Mazda 626 Transmission
Mazda has been known for making affordable, excellent quality and reliable vehicles.
Mazda makes sure that they pay attention to every part to ensure excellent performance
from each vehicle. Being an important element in any automobile, Mazda has made
sure that its transmissions are carefully engineered with greater fuel efficiency
in mind. Mazda cars are in for the long haul, most Mazdas are serviceable for
several years with only the minimum maintenance needed.
A transmission is a vehicle component that allows the vehicle to run in different
speeds at the same rpm. There are two transmission types, the manual transmission
or the stick shift and the automatic transmission. The manual permits the driver
to change gears when he deems it fit while the automatic shifts gears without
the drivers participation. The Mazda 626 transmission has had a long history
in terms of the evolution which it went through before finally landing in the
626. From 1983-1986 the 626 used a 3-speed box, in 1987 the first four-speed electronic
automatic transmission on a Mazda appeared.
In 1988 until 1992, the redesigned 4EAT-G, a take off from the 1987 G4A-EL, was
used for the Mazda 626. The following year saw a re-engineering on the 4EAT-G
giving it seven solenoids, a rotor-type pump and the throttle cable was removed.
This is the transmission type that was used for the first issue Mazda 626. In
1994 until 2002, the Mazda 626 made use of CD4E transmission.
